Miramichi Rug Hookers Host The Richibucto Rug Hookers

This Thursday was so much fun!
The Miramichi Rug Hookers had a luncheon at the Lions Center, for The Richibucto Rug Hookers.

The ladies were busy in the kitchen with the luncheon being prepared.

The luncheon was made up of the assorted sandwiches, relish dishes, salsa & chips...

                                             And eye-pleasing, tummy tasting, desserts!

So many rug hookers!

The room was buzzing with conversation & laughter as hands were busy with their crafting.

Miramichi Rug Hookers Crafting of Rugs, Wallhangings, & Swedish woven textiles.

Pat's sweet Westies! She is all about Westies & breeds the best Westie's in North America!

Several of the ladies do Swedish Weaving, lovely textile work with woven cloth & yarn.

Donna M is prolific with her rug hooking, she has made a rug for each of her grandchildren.

It's a team effort, her husband draws out the pattern that she wants...

And Donna does the rug hooking!

Each rug is personized to that grandchild & their name is included in each unique rug.

More rug hooked rugs, see the Westie. Yes, whenever we see Westie's ... we think of Pat!

Another Pat project, I remember seeing this the year I started rug hooking! I love Celtic Knots.

Peggy has gotten this one done just in time to put it away until next winter.
Next week is June & on June 25th... it's six months till Christmas!
Time has wings as you get older, I guess it puts you closer to the flying angels! lol

                                                       An assortment of beautiful work!

I love the quilt-like pattern to this rug! The colours pop with the black background.

So much for The Richibucto Rug Hookers to take in! Next September we will see what they have done this year! So many beautiful talented hookers in this area!

                                                                Rita's fun-loving cat!

                                                       Beautiful shaded rose!

This rabbit really caught my eye.

Mary Lou, I just love this Jane Steele pattern!

It so reminded me of 'The Scream' by Edvard Munch. It also has a Van Gogh style to it to with the background movement.

Haunting is it not?!!

Another rug displaying gorgeous colours with the black background, finishing with a red border.

Prizes were waiting for our guests!

 The First basket...

 Second basket...

 Third basket...

 And the Fourth basket!

And now more names were drawn, this time our guild was included. Congrats Lima!

So happy that they all came to the luncheon!

Hello Susan! It was a fun time had by all!

                                                                        Congrats Betty!

Bernice, you are so lucky, she also won a bouquet of daffodils!

Pat, yes Westie Pat, won this beautiful Swedish woven accent pillow. I so wanted that for my kitchen!
The lovely, Richibucto Rug Hookers with their winning baskets!

Rita with the daffodils that were given out with 'Guess the # I'm thinking!' Good job Bernice!

On Wednesday morning I threw my back out just putting a plate in the dishwasher! Oh, the pain that Wednesday, all day in bed, Advil, Naproxen, heat pads, ice pads, rest all day. Yuck!!!
Thursday was better but no sitting for any periods of time, stand or lay down & pain, sciatica pain was unbearable.
I didn't take my hooking to work on as that would mean sitting down. Here is what I have done so far with the Mustang circular rug.

I am taking it a lot slower these days till this back bout is over. I was at the chiro today & had some acupuncture done & he wants an x-ray done too. Next week will be appointments...

I am to only walk, the Bostons will be happy! They are enjoying the green grass & running full-out on it chasing pigeons & robins that are on the grass.

Dog tired after a day of running & filling their lungs with the salt air!
If Bridget's teeth are not showing, her tongue is & if she's really tired it just hangs out! lol

Thank you for the visit & tomorrow I'll be posting about The Carroll Cottage & plans of the future.
Till then, I must slow down & mend.

Eleanor Roosevelt said it best, "Life has got to be lived - That's all there is to it."

Have a wonderful weekend!

Glorious Spring!

Spring has sprung, the bulbs are blooming & buds on the trees will be popping soon...allergy time for me & many others but it is so worth it to see nature come to life!

Baxter & Bridget love to play ball & destuff, stuffed animals but these days they are outdoor 'swamp' dogs. We've a small pond & a drain off stream that goes out to the ditch & they love being in the mucky water chasing one another, yuk! Lucky they have short hair & a good shake & the strong sunlight they dry off quickly.

Spring flowers from the Carroll Cottage garden!

I've been filling vases with these lovely happy yellow daffodils! We have spring!!

I had some girlfriends over for dinner last week & used this as the table decor, it was a hit!

However, the bigger hit was seeing how the stems stayed upright with the Lee Valley gadget I've had for years. It reminded my guest of her grandmother as she too used one for her flowers.

Definitely the wrong potato plant, this one is going up & staying sturdy with its thick stalk! lol
I wanted to replant the idea of the trailing potato plant in a window box, I'll be looking for something in the garden stores that are popping up everywhere!

I love this sweet wee garden gnome that the middle son Mitchell gave me this Mother's Day!
I knit Swedish Gnomes at Christmas & this one really look familiar!

He also came with a magical door for his new residence & a solar powered fountation sprayer was also in my package. All wonderful thoughtful summer accessories for me to create with. XO

This is a quilt that I made with my late girlfriend Liz Vicent, she wanted to learn how to paper piece & this was the quilt I taught her how to do that techique. I'm going to donate this quilt to the Baie-Stainte-Anne Community Center to get a defibulator if we cannot get the funding for one as there are ones around the community but not in the center. It is a very active center & I feel that there should be one under its roof. Time is so important with heart attacks!

I made this quilt in August 2008! I cannot believe that it has been a decade already...

It was made before I even thought of coming east to spend my summers. You can tell want I was dreaming of though!
Now someone else can enjoy this beautiful quilt & the community will benefit!

Karen Cole of Quiltingleah did all the custom quilting on it & what a beautiful job she did!

This will all happen early next year as the Golden Age is doing a draw on their quilt right now & will finish at their Christmas dinner with the draw.

                                                           My newest hooked rug project!

I've always had a passion for the Ford Mustang! I will be crocheting red/white/blue around the edge making this hooked logo the center design.

What is it with hooked rugs & felines? My three cats all take turns lying on this rug when it's not in the hoop to be hooked, maybe the warmth of the 100% Briggs & Little yarn?

                                                            Look who's home again!

I was hanging out the laundry this morning & noticed a bird on the top of the clothesline. I would hang & push the line out & the bird would stay on the line whilst it was moving. Then I reliezed that our owl residents had returned!

Rexton was not at all happy when I tried to remove her from the laundry room windowsill. She was enjoying all the spring movement & the morning sun. She has a perfect view of the owl residents too!

I've not been very productive with this project & with just two of the smaller blocks & one large block across the top to go, I really need to put it in gear & get this quilt off the design wall & ready to enjoy this summer! I want to do that bargello!!

I made myself a pair of garden overalls & didn't think it through... I'm 5'2" & even my girlfriend Mary Beth at 5'8" they were too big around her & the length too. Grrr I just loved this 100% cotton fabric & the carefree ease of an overall.
I had even sent away for the overall clips & they too looked great on the outfit.
Now to find the Cinderella to fit these!

The buds on the lilac trees are getting bigger & soon will be leaves, the the lovely lilacs will be here too! The grass in the background is another story... there are large dead areas of grass. Don't know what happened but we'll rake off the dead & reseed it with fingers crossed & hope for the best!

Parts of New Brunswick is not so fortunate this spring with all the flooding from the St. John River. Their summer will be one of recovery, I hope the government helps it goes easier for them.

I'm so happy to see the longer days & the warmer temps. Time to get my 1996 Mustang Cobra out!

I hope you too are feeling spring, wherever you are, spring really puts an extra bounce in your step.

Thank you for visiting & stop back again, Bill & Nicholas are coming home so there is a lot of outside work/photos to do this week.

Enjoy your long weekend!
